Please note that this is a work in progress; if anything seems to be missing it might be because it was already mentioned in my old Sengoku Basara 4 reference guide or the one for Sengoku Basara 4 Sumeragi.
Sengoku Basara: Sanada Yukimura-den is a brand new type of 'Sengoku Drama' game which follows Sanada Yukimura his childhood all the way through to his heroic final battle. There will be a very small cast of characters instead of the usual sprawling roster, and the game will have a strong focus on a single main storyline for the first time.
While the plot will be loosely based on actual history and some established character relationships have been changed to fit the story, it's still going to include the Sengoku Basara series' usual crazy fantasy elements. At the same time, the game is being worked on by a new producer and director team so we can expect some departures from the familiar Sengoku Basara formula.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How many playable characters are there in the game?
A. There are 6 playable characters in the main story mode and they're all brand new, gameplay-wise. Sanada Masayuki and Sanada Nobuyuki are completely new to the series, and the game introduces brand new versions of Yukimura and Masamune along with younger versions of both of them. There are also 46 characters in total available for bonus modes such as the Sanada Trials: the 6 leads plus 40 returning characters from Sengoku Basara 4 Sumeragi.
Q. Will the game be released in English?
A. Probably not. At this time, nothing has been mentioned about releasing the game outside Asia.
Q. Will the game be released in any other languages?
A. Yes! A Chinese PS4 edition will be released in select Asian countries. Chinese-speaking regions usually have to make do with the Japanese edition of the game, so this is a good sign that Capcom is interested in the overseas market once again.
Q. Whatever happened to Houjou Ujimasa?
A. He's back in the game again... but unplayable. This question is going to be included in all of the FAQs I write until the poor guy returns to the main roster.
Q. Will Nouhime/Ranmaru/Itsuki/Yoshimoto/Kennyo/Xavi be playable in Yukimura-den?
A. No. We're still waiting to see them all again :(
Q. How about Musashi or 'The Invincible' Naoe Kanetsugu?
A. No idea. Nothing has been announced but it's not impossible they'll show up as enemies or transformations in the bonus missions since their models are available already.
Q. What happened to the five regional warlords from Sengoku Basara 3?
A. They're taking a break from the series and probably won't be included in the game. There's a small chance that Amago Haruhisa could show up for the same reason mentioned in the previous question, but don't count on it.
Q. Will returning characters receive new moves?
A. Masamune and Yukimura have been completely reworked. The old 'Sumeragi' versions are available for extra missions while the new versions are completely separate characters with their own mechanics. The rest of the characters are likely to play the same way they did in the previous game. They're included as a bonus, not as part of the main story.
Q. How do I unlock the harder difficulties?
A. Clear all of the Six Circle Challenges on every stage to unlock the third difficulty level (Sanzu River).
Q. Is there any tag mode or multiplayer co-op?
A. Probably not.
Q. Is free mode included?
A. Yes! A tweet from the official account confirmed that after playing through a story mode once you'll be able to select any other character to replay previous stages. I believe that the character-specific minigames (e.g. Sasuke destroying supply crates) are still locked to their original characters, but the main stages should let you choose your characters freely.
Q. Are the DLC costumes from the previous games included?
A. Yes. It's been confirmed that several of the old DLC costumes will be available from release as part of the game. The list includes all of the Biohazard (Resident Evil), Street Fighter IV, Devil May Cry and Monster Hunter costumes, Muneshige's Jumbo Xavi-kun outfit and the seven preorder costumes from Sengoku Basara 4.
Q. What about the Tales of Zestiria, T.M.Revolution and NJPW (New Japan Pro-Wrestling) outfits from Sengoku Basara 4 Sumeragi?
A. They're still unconfirmed. I'm guessing they're not included since Capcom would have to pay to license them in a new game; they'd rather create brand new costumes and sell them to us as paid DLC instead. One brand new NJPW costume has been created for Masamune.
Q. Is there a reward for importing your Sengoku Basara 4 Sumeragi save data?
A. If you have save data from the previous game on your system, you'll receive a one-time loyalty reward of 5,000 Monsen Coins in Sengoku Basara: Sanada Yukimura-den. Here's what the reward screen looks like:
Q. Will the DLC for the Chinese version be compatible with the Japanese version (and vice versa)?
A. Nobody knows the answer to this until the game is released. My guess it that it will all be compatible to avoid the confusion of having multiple versions in the non-Japanese store, but this is the very first time there's been a Chinese version - it's uncharted territory.
Q. Are you going to translate all of the interface screens again?
A. Sure. I'll add the screens I can. If you get stuck just send me a picture of the screen and I'll post a translated version.
Q. What does the game's name mean?
A. Sengoku Basara: Sanada Yukimura-den is simply 'Sengoku Basara: Sanada Yukimura Legend'. In the absence of an official English title I'm using the Japanese one. The game is the first (and so far, only) title in the new Sengoku Basara Retsuden Series. A retsuden literally means a historical record of someone's achievements but they're spelling it slightly differently on purpose to give it a more exciting nuance, so think of it as 'Sengoku Basara: Blazing Saga'.
Q. Why is Masamune wearing white?
A. It's a reference to a real historical anecdote about Masamune confronting Hideyoshi; white clothing is linked to burial imagery in Japanese culture. If you search you'll find previous posts and comments talking about it in more detail.
Q. I don't know much about the real Yukimura, will I have trouble following the game's story?
A. There's a summary based on an article published in the fan club newsletter here which might help.
Q. Why do some parts of this guide have a message that the information is coming soon?
A. I can't translate material which I don't have yet. Things like trophy descriptions aren't usually released until the game is out.
Q. What's the difference between the PS3 and PS4 versions of the game?
A. Very little. With the previous game, the PlayStation 4 version ran in 1080p at 60fps, and sharing video and screenshots was possible when playing. It was compatible with Share Play and PS Vita Remote Play. The PlayStation 3 version dropped to 30fps in 2 player games and had less graphical detail. Other than the anticipated visual and performance improvements, both versions of the game should be identical in terms of features. KobaP has confirmed that both versions will include the same number of enemy soldiers but the distance at which they will be visible is greater on PS4.
Q. Why don't the new characters have full move sets?
A. Benmaru and Bontenmaru are trimmed-down versions of their adult forms, so they're incomplete and only have four unique moves each. The other four leads are missing a couple of special moves. I expect 'full' versions will be a selling point in the next game in the series; multiple special attacks and extra moves were added to the older characters gradually in the same way.
Q. Why does this game have a different director and producer team?
A. The team of KobaP and YamamotoD has been associated with Sengoku Basara right from the start, so the news that Nonaka Daizou would be producing Yukimura-den with Tanaka Toshihiro as director was surprising. KobaP personally selected Nonaka to give the game a different feel from previous titles. It was explained that YamamotoD's workload is now too great to give him time to work on the new game on his own but he's still helping with character design, ideas and planning while Tanaka looks after the main story. Reading between the lines, it's possible the other two are hard at work on Sengoku Basara 5 in the background.
Q. I missed the 'White Cross' preorder costume for Yukimura, is there another way to get it after the game is released?
A. It's exclusive to the first press edition of the game, so the only way to obtain it will be to track down a copy from the first batch. The codes will also have an expiry date which I'll add when we have more information.
Q. What's the weapon system like?
A. Weapons are just for looks this time so you can equip any weapon you like. Customisation is done through the Styles which are part of the new Bushin system. It's actually way less complicated than it looks at first glance.
Q. How do I buy the extra (non-DLC) costumes, weapons and Styles?
A. They become available for purchase with Monsen Coins once you clear stages in story mode.
Q. What's the deal with the Hatsune Miku collaboration? Can I play as Miku?
A. It was a jokey team-up illustration with Weekly Famitsu magazine, putting Nobuyuki and Miku together since they both have similar hairstyles. There's no DLC costume crossover (yet?)
Q. Can I use your translations in my own guide, blog, fan project or anything else?
A. Sure. I prefer it if a link to my guide is included as a reference so people know where to check for corrections and updates, but aside from that you can do whatever you want with the information here. If you make something useful for the community please let me know and I'll add it to the Links section.
Q. Something in your guide is wrong!
A. Oops, please let me know so I can fix it. I often translate late at night so errors inevitably happen.
Q. Can you translate something specific for me?
A. I work long hours but if you have a recording or screenshot showing the thing you want translated (and it's not very long), I can give it a try when I have time. If it's something simple like an in-game menu I'll add it to the guide so everyone can benefit. I won't do full scripts but check the Links section in case another fan is already working on it.
Q. Why do you spell some of the characters' names differently to the spellings used in Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes?
A. Personal preference. It's easier for me to be consistent if I use the spellings I'm more used to. If you want to use Hanbei/Hanbe/Hanbey that's fine; I just happen to use Hanbee. I spell some other words strangely because I'm not from the US and use a more traditional style of English.
New Features
This section is for the miscellaneous gameplay details and changes which have been revealed so far.
- The on-screen counter now tracks Monsen Coins, not kills. The coins are obtained by killing enemies with blue health bars and by completing in-game challenges. Details will be listed in the Monsen Coins section.
- Kills are still tracked and a pop-up notification will appear whenever you pass defeat certain numbers of enemies.
- There's a Tegata Mission pop-up panel in the top right, since stages have various objectives which change over the course of play. You will need to clear the current Tegata Mission to advance. More information on this feature can be found in the Missions section.
- There will only be a few playable characters in the main story mode, but a number of familiar warriors will appear as enemies.
- Tag has been replaced with the new Sanada Blood system (details below).
- Characters can be powered up mid-stage via the new Bushin system (details below).
- The main story mode is called 'Sanada Yukimura's Life Story' this time. It includes ten chapters.
- 'Secret Backstories' are shorter unlockable stages with more story content.
- Another mode called Sanada Trials lets you choose from 46 different characters to complete various missions.
- You can read the scripts of the Secret Backstory chapters (and replay the full dialogue) in the Gallery.
- The main menu will include Sanada Yukimura's Life Story, Secret Backstories, Sanada Trials, Gallery, Manual, Settings and Online Basara Shop options.
Difficulty Levels
When selecting your difficulty level in the main story mode, there are three choices (the last one is unlockable): Normal, Hard and Sanzu River. Normal difficulty is at the top of the list. The longer the name of the difficulty level in Japanese, the harder it is!
To unlock the final difficulty level (Sanzu River), clear all of the basic Six Circle Challenges in story mode.
Sanada Blood
Instead of tag, the player can switch between characters mid-stage using a feature called 'Sanada Blood'. The blood-spattered L2 mark indicates when Sanada Blood swapping is available.
The Bushin System
The other important new gameplay feature is powering up your characters with the new Bushin ('Braveheart') system mid-battle, which is designed to encourage aggressive play. As you gather Bushin, the gauge in the bottom left corner of the screen fills. Each time the gauge fills completely your Bushin Renma ('Braveheart Refinement', but I'm just calling it 'Bushin Level' hereafter) will increase and strengthen your character, allowing them to use up to three additional skills at full power.
Please note that although the game specifically calls them 'skills', they're actually passive effects.
The numbered list right above your character portrait in the bottom left displays the three skills which can be unlocked mid-battle using the Bushin system. In this example the third, fourth and sixth levels all unleash skills, so by the time Yukimura has raised his Bushin Level from one to six he'll have activated a total of three skills. Increasing your Bushin Level also grants a passive bonus to attack power and a damage reduction buff, so even if you unlock your third and final skill at Bushin Level 3 it's still worth continuing to attack to power yourself up.
When you go up a Bushin Level you see this very clear and obvious on-screen pop-up message.
The skill names light up above your portrait when they have been activated so it's ok if you can't read the Japanese numbers; however, you only need to learn to recognise six Japanese numbers to understand the Bushin levels: 壱 (1), 弐 (2), 参 (3), 四 (4), 伍 (5) and 六 (6).
To accumulate Bushin, look for enemies with a blue health bar and single them out. By defeating these enemies you'll gradually increase your gauge. You can also find 'Telepathy Spheres' in deluxe blue tsuzura treasure boxes. If you pick these up so the blue ring around your character portrait fills and press L1 and R1 together, you'll activate Bushin Denshin ('Telepathy') mode. For a limited time, all enemies will give Bushin when defeated.
When you're able to activate Bushin Denshin mode, you'll see this notification on the screen:
The L1+R1 buttons will also appear in the bottom left, like this. The blue ring around the Bushin level indicator displays the time remaining in Bushin Denshin mode and when it's active it's very obvious, with a blue aura around the screen and sparkling special effects.
If this all sounds overwhelming, there's an example of how the system works here.
Your Bushin Level can decay when you take damage. You can even level down and lose the benefit of the passive skills you've earned until you raise your Bushin Level back up again.
It looks as though enemy officers may also be able to power themselves up with the Bushin system, as some screenshots have shown them with mysterious blue circles next to their health bars.
In addition, some boss characters have extra marks above their health gauges. When the boss is 'defeated' their health bar immediately fills back up using one of those red marks, and they gain a Basara gauge they didn't have before. So it appears that enemies with these extra red marks have to be defeated multiple times before they're knocked out for good, and they get stronger each time you fight them.
A list of all of the Bushin system bonuses we have seen so far can be found in the Customisation section of this guide.
A translation of the pause screen is below:
At the end of each chapter, you'll a results screen summarising your performance:
And here's the Game Over screen, just in case.
Finally, the four pages of the Settings menu:
Please send me a screenshot or photograph if there are any menus which need translating.
Missions
The Tegata Missions displayed in the top right corner of the screen can be simple objectives such as defeating a boss or a certain number of enemies, or they can be more complex defensive challenges. Some of the story missions seen so far have been 'head towards Takeda Katsuyori', 'beat Oda Nobunaga and Akechi Mitsuhide', 'beat Tokugawa Ieyasu' and 'defeat 200 soldiers'.
A different kind of challenge called a 'Rainbow Chance' can also appear during gameplay, offering a huge bonus coin reward. In the example below it asks the player to pull off a 500-hit combo within the time limit shown in white. If successful, they'd be awarded 5,000 monsen coins.
To trigger a Rainbow Chance, you need to attack the 'Seven Rainbows', who are enemies with large rainbow-coloured fans on their backs.
The objectives can be achieving a certain combo, defeating a number of enemies, performing parries or performing desertion dodges. You'll see this message if you're successful.
Another pop-up seen during play is a 'Six Circle Challenge'. There seem to be six of these in each story chapter, representing the six coins on Yukimura's rokumonsen emblem. I've listed the individual challenges in the Stages section since you have to clear them all to unlock the hardest difficulty level.
There are actually two sets of Six Circle Challenges per chapter: red (heads) and gold (tails). Here's a sample of what the standard red challenge screen looks like:
Customisation
Yukimura-den incorporates a brand new upgrade system to let the player customise their characters. The player can buy and configure a number of 'Styles' for each character, and swap between them freely before starting a stage. This lets you set up a selection of builds suitable for different gameplay challenges.
The various Style 'Types' (Kata) are preset arrangements of Bushin Skills and stat boosts with innate passive effects (there's a list further down the page).
- The 'Attack' build shown maxes out at Bushin level four, meaning that it takes significantly less time to power up during combat. All of the skills boost damage, and as a passive effect the Attack stat is given the biggest bonuses.
- The 'Tough' build does the opposite, boosting your defensive power and offering Bushin skills which make you harder to kill.
- The 'Money' build maxes out at Bushin level three, and since you need Monsen Coins to unlock upgrades it's a good starter build to help increase your power later on.
- A 'Balance' build raises each stat evenly and gives a moderate boost to both attack and defense.
- Elemental builds are available which add elemental effects to your attacks and boost their effectiveness as your Bushin level rises during play. It seems that each character only has one elemental option available; for example, Yukimura can only equip the 'Fire' Style.
- The 'Personal Inscriptions' from Sengoku Basara 4 Sumeragi seem to be back as unique Style Types. The one shown so far (Keiji's) has the exact same description as his Personal Inscription, so it looks as though Inscriptions are gone and in their place you can unlock and equip a character's Personal Style instead to access their unique gameplay traits.
A character's Styles can be upgraded from level one to level ten by selecting the Style and pressing Square while on the Equip Style screen shown below. Each upgrade costs a number of Monsen Coins; some are cheaper to level up than others.
Upgrading increases the stat point boost provided by the style, and also increases the level of the individual Bushin Skills attached to the Style. This increases the effectiveness of that skill; for example, if you've equipped a skill which increases damage dealt, levelling it up will significantly raise the amount of that damage increase.
The different coloured Style names (green, blue, red) denote how they increase your stats with each level. One levels up evenly (blue), one boosts stats more at low levels (green) and the third type starts off with small gains then increases more dramatically later on (red). The different coloured Skill names indicate whether it's a stat boost (blue), move boost (green) or special bonus (yellow).
For the purpose of this guide it's also a convenient way to tell the Styles apart (you can remember that your favourite has a green kanji on the left, then say, three green skills on the right).
Style Type | Skill (English) | Effect at Style Level 3 | Effect at Style Level 10 |
均 Balance | Bushin Acquisition Up | 1.2x Bushin increase | 1.5x Bushin increase |
均 Balance | Extended Bushin Denshin | Bushin Denshin duration +5 seconds | Bushin Denshin duration +8 seconds |
均 Balance | Subdue Generals | Attack +600 and defense +600 | Attack +1200 and defense +1200 |
Here's a closer view of the layout of the main interface on the Equip Style screen.
Since the Bushin Skill Level is indicated by the number of stars next to its name, we can assume that the maximum level is three.
You have to first purchase the Styles with Monsen Coins in order to use them. Higher level Styles cost more coins, and levelling them up to their maximum (level 30) also costs coins. Here's a complete list. Where the Style is unlocked through Six Circle Challenges, you only need to complete the basic (red) challenges, not the extra (gold) ones:

Monsen Coins
Monsen Coins are gathered by defeating enemies with blue health bars and completing in-game objectives. They're a currency you can use to purchase upgrades within the game, such as new Styles, weapons and costumes (after unlocking them first by playing through story mode). You also need to spend Monsen Coins to level up your Styles after purchase.
Stages
The main story will unfold across ten chapters, covering Yukimura's childhood, his time as a young man and then finally, the Osaka Summer Siege. Set in between the chapters there are 'secret backstory' chapters which provide additional exposition once you clear certain content. I'll list each stage's main storyline Tegata Missions under the 'Objectives' section but there's nothing complicated to figure out. Each main story chapter also has special objectives known as Six Circle Challenges which can be cleared during play, and if you find enemies holding rainbow fans you can trigger a Rainbow Chance challenge. Please note that there's a bonus to the Monsen Coin rewards for Six Circle Challenges the first time you complete them.

Sanada Trials
There will be 60 trials to complete in what's being called a 'survival mode'. All 46 characters are available for play in the Sanada Trials and the main objectives are varied; you might have to fight a duel or beat a large number of enemies.
Rules:
- You advance through the Trials by defeating the enemies in front of you.
- There are rewards for completing the Trials. Monsen Coins are awarded for each challenge you successfully complete, and additional coins are available for completing bonus objectives.
- You lose when you run out of HP or the countdown timer reaches zero.
Here's the Trial Selection interface:
And here's what all of the on-screen text means during gameplay:
There are also bonus trials in which colourful daruma dolls appear. By attacking the dolls you can regain time or increase your Bushin gauge.
There are four different types of doll and each gives a different reward:
- Gold: Monsen Coins (Large)
- Black: Monsen Coins (Small)
- Red: Bushin (Large)
- Red/Blue: Restores Time & Bushin (Small)
You will retain your Bushin level if you progress through the Trials one by one. If you choose to start from a later Trial, you'll have to build your Bushin level up all over again.
Furthermore, as discovered by DevilKing2138, the final trial (#60) will only appear if you clear all of the other trials in one attempt without being KOed. If you don't, trial #59 will be the last one.
Here's a list of the trial objectives. As well as the rewards for clearing each trial and progressing through consecutive trials without a break, 300 Monsen Coins are awarded for each bonus objective achieved (displayed in the top right corner of the screen):

DLC (Downloadable Content)
This should work similarly to the way it did in Sengoku Basara 4. You need a Japanese (or Asian) PSN account to purchase and download the DLC costumes, but once they're stored on your console you can access them with any user account on the system; it doesn't matter which PSN region your usual account is associated with. Weapons were region locked last time, so it might be a good idea to play using a PSN account using the same region as your game if you plan to buy any future DLC.
Here's the list of DLC announced so far:

Character Profiles: Playable Characters
The 40 playable characters from Sengoku Basara 4 Sumeragi are available in the extra modes, with classic 'Sumeragi' versions of Masamune and Yukimura for those who preferred their original fighting styles.
The main story mode has a much smaller selection of characters and the player will have to switch between them mid-stage according to the objectives. Fan sixclawsdragon has kindly produced an English version of the new character relationship chart from the official website.
I've listed all of the weapons but there's also another option for characters whose costumes come with a unique weapon model. If you select the weapon with no name in the top left corner, it will let you equip the costume's matching weapon.
The following six characters will be playable in the game's main story mode:
Benmaru 弁丸
Seiyuu: Hoshi Souichirou
Element: Fire
Weapon: A single training spear
Weapon names:
- 赤とんぼ ('Red Dragonfly')
- 朱羅・弁 (Shura: Ben 'Scarlet Silk: Ben')
- 石動配・弁 ('Isurugi Battle Fan: Ben')
- 甲賀手裏槍 ('Kouga Shuri-spear')
- 信州うさぎ ('Shinshuu Rabbit') - a special joke weapon shaped like sliced apple
- 赤とんぼ・無銘 ('Red Dragonfly: Unsigned')
- 赤とんぼ・山吹 ('Red Dragonfly: Gold')
- Standard outfit
- Alternate costume - yellow recolour

If you purchase the digital edition of the game from PSN early enough, you'll receive the 'White Cross' outfit but not the book.
Store-exclusive Bonuses: e-Capcom
A special edition of the game is exclusive to Capcom's Japan-only online store e-Capcom (PS3, PS4). It comes with all of the limited quantity bonuses as well as an additional limited quantity 'Yukimura-kun Ver.' mascot costume for Benmaru.
The main feature of the special edition is a pair of exclusive statues from Sentinel. Benmaru is 130mm tall while Bontenmaru is 135mm, and they were modelled by artist Nagashio Kyou. You can see an article about the creation of the figures here. Only a limited quantity of the figures will ever be produced.
Play-Asia are making it easy for fans outside Japan who don't want to deal with ordering through a deputy service. If you want them to buy the special edition on your behalf, they have listings for the PS3 and PS4 special editions available. They also offer a prepaid import tax delivery service with Fedex, though it isn't cheap.
Other importers which have listed the e-Capcom edition include Nin-Nin (PS3, PS4) and Nippon-Yasan (PS4).
The 'Yukimura-kun' outfit will be available separately as paid DLC at a later date. In addition, the outfit will be an additional preorder bonus at many Japanese game stores including Sanyoudou, Toys "R" Us, DORAMA, Nojima Games, Famicom Plaza, Yamada Denki, MediaPolis, Furuhon Ichiba, Futaba Tosho, WonderGOO and Rakuten Books.

Other Editions
Customers ordering the game from Asian regions outside Japan will have a choice between the Chinese-translated version of the game and the usual Japanese rerelease, so those who usually purchase the Asian edition to save money should be especially careful to check which version they order. Woah!! So much work as always. Thank you for this! 😃
ReplyDeleteThanks, it was getting hard to remember everything spread out in different posts :D

ReplyDeleteNice job!
ReplyDeleteOh, I have found an error: Nobuyuki's character image phrase is 獅士奮刃, not 獅子奮刃. Still, the pronunciation is the same. The meaning turns slightly different: "Lion Warrior's Spirited Blade". (It's funny because there is this Yojijukugo -four kanji popular phrase- called 獅子奮迅 -pronounced the same way-: "With the furious impetus of a lion". It's a very famous phrase XD XD ).
Eek, you're right! I must have entered it wrong the very first time and never noticed when I copy/pasted. Fixed, thanks :)
DeleteYou're welcome n_n
Deletenice info dump, some things that i noticed from the vids and trailers
ReplyDeleteBontenmaru's Basara Attack is called Katakura Ryuu Juuji no Tachi(Katakura style cross sword/slash?)
Masamune's Basara attack also gives him Rampage Mode buffs, the Dragon projectile eventually returns to his body and powers him up at the end of the Basara attack, it's most likely a reference to Yu Yu Hakusho character Hiei, which signature Kokuryuha attack works exactly the same way......
also, a question about Bushin system, you mentioned that it gives passive skills, does it mean that just filling the gauge to the required level will have the skills activated? or do we still need to use the L1+R1 Bushin mode to gain benefit from it?
Thanks, I've tweaked the wording (and Hiei was my favourite character in YYH!)
DeleteWith the Bushin system, it's automatic according to the live broadcast last month. So say you decide to use the 'Attack' Style:
Bushin Level 2: Enhanced Basara Skill Power
Bushin Level 3: Critical Hit Up
Bushin Level 4: Subdue Generals
When you start a new stage you will be at Bushin Level 1 and none of the buffs will be active. After you've killed a few enemies with blue HP bars you'll achieve Bushin Level 2 automatically and all of your Basara techniques will be stronger, then when you 'level up' your Bushin again you'll gain the improved crit buff automatically. When you reach Bushin Level 4 you'll have activated all three buffs and be fully charged up.
You won't gain any extra abilities if you continue up to Bushin Level 5 or 6, but according to the information in the original article you'll gain a slight boost to your attack power and damage reduction with each new Bushin Level. So you'll finish each stage stronger than when you started so long as you attacked a lot of enemies.
The only thing you have to actively do with the Bushin system (aside from attacking) is to trigger the Bushin Telepathy mode to increase your Bushin Level faster. It sounds complicated when I describe everything but during gameplay I think it will feel very natural.
Hope that made sense!
you're welcome :)
Deleteso you mean that the L1+R1 mode is a way to level the bushin buff faster than normal, and that even after the duration is over, you keep the bushin level and bonuses? cool, it is what i think it was from the beginning after all it seems, but better
The BASARA Community would be lost without your guides hands down i just platinumed SUMERAGI Yesterday thanx to these guides :D
ReplyDeletethose skills you mentioned for Nobuyoki and the rest are they the Super R2 or the regular skills ?
Congratulations on the plat!
DeleteThey're regular skills so far. I don't know which buttons they map to yet though. The R2 supers are easier to identify as they appear on the screen.
I'll read these when I get the game, but still, I want to thank you already, you're doing an awesome job <3
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteSo excited with Secret Backstory chapters! One more reason to enjoy the game ^_^
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm hoping Sasuke gets one at the very least to help broaden the story when Yukimura is older :)
DeleteWell, Sasuke definitely plays SB4 Mouri this time. Everybody know he'll be in the game's main story but still people acting like it's still questionable or something)))
DeleteThanks for the help!. How do you actually get the option to buy personal styles though, looks likes it's random.
ReplyDeleteNevermind figured it out, u just need to complete the six ring challenges for all missions ^^
ReplyDeleteThanks, I added it to the guide but I forgot to reply to your comment ;_;
Deletewhen you get the chance, would you min translating the settings/options menus? Thank you for always doing such great work!!! You are an asset to the Sengoku Basara community!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the delay, fully translated settings menus are now included in the guide (I was slow pulling the screenshots off my system) :)
Deletegreat job pro! is really helpful for me! thnx a lot!
ReplyDeleteGreat! It's a short game but I'm happy that people are playing it and finding the guide useful.
DeleteHey, Raindrops, what is the deal with the 3 last Secret Backstories? I know they exist because in YouTube someone upload the dialogs (one is between Ieyasu and Nobuyuki after Sekigahara, other between Sasuke and Yukimura not much before Sanadamaru, and the third one is about Masamune riding a horse towards Osaka from I could translate), but until now I haven't seen more information about that. In fact, it is supposed to be 15 Secret Backstories, right? But I always see 12...
ReplyDeleteHi! They seem to be audio dramas only. They unlocked normally in the gallery but there were no associated stages for the last three. I wonder whether they were planned and then pulled out, or whether all of the backstories were originally just a bonus which they made into short stages later?

ReplyDeleteHey , Raindrops . thank you so much got making this helpful guide T^T.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to ask you about 型完全制覇 trophy . Do I have to buy the 15 styles for the 46 character?!!!
dont say yes XD that would be like 690 style will need a year to do that lol.
Also I wanted to tell you about the Six Circle Challenges (Gold) in Chapter 2 - Takeda Annihilation: Battle of Tenmokuzan
#4Perform 5 'desertion' dodges against Ieyasu
it is actually 7 not 5.
Again thank you & these who helped you to make such great guide & have a very nice day.
About the trophy. Definitely not for all 46 characters. It either for a single character or the six main characters in the game (i.e. Benmaru, Bontenmaru, Yukimura, Masamune, Masayuki & Nobuyuki) I beleive.
DeleteThank you VegaManX4 for answering , I thought about trying that . I bought the styles for all the characters in the first raw but nothing happen , so I started buying everyone's' styles .. half the way now ...might be waste of coins T^T but here goes nothing
DeleteI think some styles get unlocked later in the game so only after you finish the main story (and probably backstories as well) you will have access to all styles to buy (not sure if difficulty matters but personally I went Sanzu River as soon as it was unlocked). Don't hold me to that though - I'm honestly not sure of what real requirements are. I recall the prices being quite high for the last ones so I had to squeeze me of all the coins I could get by replaying stages and completing challenges at the same time just for the main cast.
Deletemostly I finished everything , the only thing left is the golden Six Circle Challenges. Made 4 chapters so far. I think Sanzu River has something to do caz I notice once you made the circle challenge in that mode it would be written at the circle. I will try collecting coins buying the 15 and let's see what happen . your replay is so much appreciated.
DeleteI got my Platinum a week ago Yatta ^^ & it seems that you have to buy all the 15 styles for all characters .
DeleteHoly moly i can only imagine the amount of work you've put into this. My little brother and I can't thank you enough for putting it here for everyone. I've only posted a few comments on the entirety of internet blogs and two of them (including this one) are on yours, the first was on your basara 4 sumeragi materials. Just wanted to make sure you know that a lot of people (especially my little brother-i think you can easily guess what his favourite games are) really appreciate your great job here so keep it up!
ReplyDeleteWish you all the best, from me and a young self-proclaimed biggest basara fan in Indonesia!
P.S He's also your big fan.
-Alsh
I was wondering if anyone could let me know if the trophy 免許皆伝 (complete 60 trials bonuses) counts if you repeat challenges or only counts once per stage.
ReplyDeleteI beleive it counts all repeated ones as well. I was surprised it popped on me when i was half-way into trials trying to do the ones I missed on my fitst attempt. And i definitely missed some closer to the end. So I figured it's not 60 bonus per trial thing but rather 60 bonus targets at all. Hope this helps :)

ReplyDeleteI only need to clear 3 gold circles challenges to get the platinum, but i suck at the minigames, does anyone know what are the requirements toget an ultimate rating at the gliding and horse dash minigame, and how to get more than 900 points at the shuriken minigame?
ReplyDeleteYou need to collect every single box in gliding without getting hit.
DeleteYou must do flawless horse run (not slowing down even once from hitting obstacles). It's not necessary to collect every chest to score a result but collecting carrots (at least i think it's carrots) to get a speed boost probably helps. You can check my video here for reference - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYOokrwwLLI (Yukimura's part starts at 4:50)
Finally, in shuriken mini game you just have to score high enough (repelling incoming rolling formations and Kanbee to hit packs of enemies instead of just shooting each enemy helps a lot). Use bombs wisely and/or only as a last resort.
Thanks a lot VegaManX4 for all the tips and the video, got the platinum today.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course thanks to Raindrops and Daydreams for all the useful stuff here that made me understand the new mechanics of this game since i don't speak a word of japanese.
The desertion dodges against Ieyasu in Stage 2 for the Gold Coin Challenge - You need seven, not five. Currently playing the game and I had to do it seven times to get the coin, not five as you stated. Just thought I would point that out.
ReplyDeleteAlso, huge thanks for your guides - you've made it possible for me to playing this and SB4/Sumeragi without staring at the game in frustrated confusion!
I understand that you will recieve a reward for your saved file of Sumeragi but I was also wondering if the weapons you have acquired and equipped to the characters in Sumeragi will be transfered to Sanada Yukimura Den so you can be able to use them once again. That's how it was like with Sumeragi in which you were able to use the weapons you had already obtained in the 4th game but I am not sure if it will be the same for Sanada Yukimura Den.
ReplyDelete
